Luke Peterson

DIRECTOR & SENIOR PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Special interests:

Luke is the director and principal physiotherapist at Eastside Physio + Co. He has been practising physiotherapy since 2012 and has developed a special interest in helping individuals with shoulder pain, migraine management, and persistent spinal issues.

Luke began his physiotherapy career by completing the Masters of Physiotherapy program at Sydney University following a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Sports Science from the University of Wollongong. His professional journey started as a graduate at The Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick, NSW where he actively engaged in research trials in the areas of rotator cuff shoulder rehabilitation as well as clinical research for spinal injury rehabilitation.

Shoulder injuries are Luke’s main area of interest.  He has completed post-graduate education in Frozen Shoulder; Rotator Cuff injury management, and Shoulder Instability management.  Having completed more than 1000 shoulder treatments to date, he is well suited to managing those with complex shoulder conditions. His approach revolves around early and precise diagnoses, which lay the foundation for tailored treatment plans. For complex shoulder cases, Luke works to create a comprehensive treatment strategy aimed at avoiding surgery where possible, or when needed, coordinate pre and post-surgical care with a trusted shoulder surgeon for optimal long-term outcomes.

Luke has also completed post-graduate Watson-based headache and migraine training. This training is invaluable in assisting individuals dealing with various types of headaches, including migraines, tension headaches, and cervicogenic headaches.

Sharing knowledge is a key value of our clinic.  Luke adds to this through his mentoring role with junior staff and through his education work with local doctors and health practitioners which aims to upskill their management of shoulder conditions.

Luke is actively involved in a workplace health initiative providing onsite physio for Woolworths in Victoria.  The primary goal of our onsite physio program is a dual benefit to both stakeholders and staff members by improving employee wellbeing whilst reducing workplace injury.  He is also actively involved in injury early intervention programs with medium and large corporations including Bunnings, Qantas, Aldi, and BWS.

Outside of work Luke keeps busy with his 2 young girls, June and Maggie.  He enjoys most sports, particularly cricket, boxing, and AFL.  And he's a sucker for a live music gig.
